We remember Louisville April 10, 2023
Thank You

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, care and support provided to our ONB family these past 12 months.

In Our Hearts and Minds

On April 10, 2023, a tragedy at our downtown Louisville, KY, location claimed the lives of five beloved Old National team members — Josh Barrick, Deana Eckert, Tommy Elliott, Juliana Farmer and Jim Tutt.

These were extraordinary, loving and gifted members of our Old National family who poured themselves out, every day, in service to others. We continue to grieve their loss, and we are committed to keeping their memories alive in the years to come.

Those we lost  |  A message from our CEO

The love, care and support we have received has been immeasurable.

Over the past year, we have been humbled, blessed and sustained by an incredible outpouring of love, care and support from individuals and organizations throughout the country. We want to thank everyone who supported us in our time of need.

We also want to express our deepest gratitude to the members of the Louisville Metro Police Department — especially Officer Nick Wilt and Officer Cory Galloway who were wounded in the attack — the University of Louisville Hospital Trauma Center, Governor Andy Beshear, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg, the FBI, Community Foundation of Louisville, the Louisville religious and mental health communities, the American Red Cross and countless other heroes who came to the aid of those victimized by this tragedy.

We also want to thank the entire Louisville community for your love, care and support. Our Old National family will never forget!

Walking To Remember

Old National will honor its five team members lost, and others impacted by the tragedy, with a "Walk to Remember" on April 10. Our Louisville offices will be closed, and all other corporate offices and banking centers will close at 2:00 pm EST/ 1:00 pm CST for team members to walk in remembrance.

A Message of Gratitude and Reflection
From Old National Chairman and CEO Jim Ryan

Remembering Those We Lost

Five extraordinary Old National team members lost their lives as a result of this tragic event. They were loving, generous and incredibly gifted. They poured themselves out, every day, in service of others, and we are committed to keeping their memories alive.

Josh Barrick

“Josh was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He would do anything for anyone and cherished his time with them. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was sentimental and was passionate about life.”

Josh’s business acumen was only surpassed by his passion for family, which always entered in our conversations. He shared many stories of his wife and children who were the center of his world."

"To know Josh is to love Josh, and this loss is felt in the hearts of so many. He was truly a remarkable man and was taken from us far too soon."

Josh Barrick

Deana Eckert

"She was the kindest, gentlest and TOUGHEST woman I’ve ever had the privilege to know. I’m thankful every day to have known her.”

“She was a rainbow of love – supportive and warm, and always friendly, kind and smiling."

“Deana was strong, courageous, committed and so incredibly smart! Her family was her life. Her mile-wide smile was ever-present and contagious. She will be so missed by so many.”

Deana Eckert

Tommy Elliott

"From the minute he woke up in the morning, he was thinking about others and what he could do for them. He would manage to take care of things before they even knew what was needed."

"He was forward-thinking, always focused on the next steps to move (us) forward. He was a friend to many who believed in making our community a better place to live and thrive."

"He enjoyed life. he enjoyed people. He enjoyed being in the mix. He enjoyed trying to get stuff done to move Louisville and Kentucky forward. He was serious about it, but he had fun with it."

Tommy Elliott

Juliana Farmer

“Juliana was a ray of sunshine, a joy to be around. She was a loving individual. She never complained. She will never die because her memory will be in our minds and our hearts."

“She was someone you were just drawn to with her bright personality. Through her actions and words, it was always evident that she deeply loved her family, friends and co-workers. She will be terribly missed by so many.”

“She loved life. She was a beautiful young lady. All I can say is that heaven has gained a beautiful angel.”

Juliana Farmer

Jim Tutt

“Jim was one of the kindest, most authentic and smartest people I have ever been around. It was obvious that his family and faith were at the center of his life.”

"He often talked with great pride about his wife, kids and grandkids, and his mission trips to other countries. Our community lost a great leader. He had given us so much and had so much more to give.”

“Jim was humble and brilliant – two rare pairings. He was creative and empowered others to use their strengths. I appreciated his genuine friendship. He was authentic and someone everyone loved to be around.”
